Teaching is in my blood. Growing up at home back in the Dominican Republic I knew from the age of six that I wanted to be an educator just like my mother and Aunties. After graduating with a degree in education in my country. I moved to Denver, Colorado in 2007 and continued my teaching career overseas. As I started working for the DPS District, I continued my learning journey as an educator and got my Master’s Degree in Special Education and Linguistically Diverse Students from CU Boulder
One thing that has remained a constant in my career is my love for teaching reading. Reading is fundamental in understanding all subjects as well as being the key to understanding and expressing one’s self.
Currently, I live in Denver with my two teenagers, Ana and Luis. I love reading, and spending time with my kids. I also enjoy cooking adventurous Dominican recipes for my family and friends; although, I do can say that they are as fond of my culinary experiments as I am. I am grateful to have a job that allows me to draw on the elements of teaching that have long been a part of who I am while working with students who continue to inspire me each day.
