Kat Jihad
3rd Grade Math Teacher

Hello! My name is Kat Jihad and I am extremely excited to be teaching 3rd grade math for a second year at Smith! I am originally from Tulsa Oklahoma, and moved to Durango Colorado in 2009 to attend College. Soon after graduation, I moved to Denver to complete a Master’s degree program at the University of Colorado in Early Childhood Education. While completing the program, my love for teaching grew, and my philosophy of education strengthened. I have a 9 years old Chihuahua named “Little Mama.” I go back home to Oklahoma every year to visit my siblings nieces, and nephews. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, running, reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. I also enjoy exploring and learning new things, for example I am strengthening my chess playing skills, and began learning Spanish. I am thrilled to be apart of Denver Public Schools and am excited to help launch the brand new math curriculum Bridges!
